In July of 2006, EBNet designed and oversaw an ASTM E119 Fire Test on two straw bale walls—one of the world's most demanding tests—which both easily passed. Building codes around the world are already more straw bale-friendly as a direct result of this and other research EBNet organized and funded.

We've begun a three to five year project to literally set new international standards for earthen construction, a project that colleagues from all over the world have encouraged us to take on, and will help us to develop.
